As a Registered Dietitian, you have worked hard for your nutrition expertise and value your credentials, but the average American does not know the difference between a Registered Dietitian and nutritionist. The legislative arm of the Texas Dietetic Association (TDA)is fighting for a practice act to safeguard our profession so that consumers will only receive nutrition therapy from a qualified professional with the education, training and proper examination for competency. Twenty-nine other states already have a practice act. In addition, TDA legislative forces can drive school nutrition policies to halt childhood obesity through education, the school lunch program and collaborative efforts with parents and teachers. In other words, the legislative committee can determine the future of dietetics and the health of Texas, so get involved! How do I get involved?
There are several ways you can participate.
Vote.

Partner with students. Educate them on the practice act or take them to meet a legislator. Connect them with their legislator from home for greater visibility.
